1. Black Is Not A Crime:
Since 1999, numerous people of color have tragically lost their lives due to law enforcement actions in the United States. Here are some of the notable cases:
1. Amadou Diallo (1999)- Shot 41 times by NYPD officers who mistook his wallet for a gun.
2. Sean Bell (2006)- Killed the night before his wedding in a hail of 50 bullets by NYPD officers.
3. Oscar Grant (2009) - Shot by a BART police officer in Oakland, California.
4. Trayvon Martin (2012) - Killed by a neighbourhood watch volunteer, George Zimmerman.
5. Eric Garner (2014)- Died after being placed in a chokehold by NYPD officers.
6. Michael Brown (2014)- Shot by a police officer in Ferguson, Missouri.
7. Tamir Rice (2014)- 12-year-old shot by Cleveland police while holding a toy gun.
8. Freddie Gray (2015) - Died from spinal injuries sustained while in police custody.
9. Philando Castile (2016) - Shot during a traffic stop in Minnesota.
10. Stephon Clark (2018) - Shot in his grandmother's backyard in Sacramento, California.
11. Atatiana Jefferson (2019)- Shot through her window by a Fort Worth police officer.
12. Breonna Taylor (2020) - Shot in her home during a botched police raid.
13. George Floyd (2020)- Died after a Minneapolis officer knelt on his neck for over nine minutes.
14. Sonya Massa (Date unspecified) - Shot in her own home after calling police to report an intruder.
G-Square Publishing calls for an end to these murderous acts. Being Black is not a crime. We must all wake up to this reality or face dire consequences.
